Unist Multi-Tube Quick Connect

The Unist Multi-Tube Quick Connect simplifies the connection of multiple fluid lines used in in-die lubrication applications. Instead of disconnecting and reconnecting numerous individual lines during every die change, operators can join the die-side and supply-side connections at one convenient connection point.

This arrangement can make die changes faster, reduce the possibility of connecting a line incorrectly, and allow spray nozzles to remain permanently mounted in the die. It is designed for use with Unist low-volume and airless spray nozzles in metal stamping applications. [unist.com]

Faster die changes

Changing dies can involve more than moving tooling in and out of the press. Lubrication lines must also be disconnected from the outgoing die and properly connected to the incoming die.

When numerous spray nozzles are used, connecting each line individually can take time and create opportunities for incorrect connections. The Multi-Tube Quick Connect combines multiple lines into one organized connection assembly.

Its quick-clamp mechanism allows the mating sections to be joined without reconnecting every fluid line separately. Once connected, fluid can be distributed to the permanently mounted spray nozzles inside the die.

Maintain nozzle position and alignment

Removing lubrication nozzles during every die change can disturb their position. A nozzle that is moved or installed incorrectly may not provide the intended spray location or coverage.

The Multi-Tube Quick Connect allows compatible nozzles and tubing to stay with the die. This helps preserve the established position of each nozzle between production runs.

Permanent nozzle placement can also make a lubrication setup easier to reproduce when a die returns to the press. Operators do not have to recreate the complete nozzle arrangement during each setup.

Dripless fluid-line connections

The assembly uses dripless quick connectors to help minimize leakage while the die-side and supply-side sections are disconnected. Its leak-resistant valves help keep the connection cleaner and reduce unwanted fluid loss during a die change.

The connection body is manufactured from anodized aluminum. Push-to-connect fittings make it easier to install and organize the individual tubing lines. [unist.com]

Available configurations

The Unist Multi-Tube Quick Connect is available in several configurations to accommodate different in-die lubrication systems. Available options include:

  • 12-port configurations
  • 18-port configurations
  • 24-port configurations
  • 30-port configurations
  • Standard hose connections
  • Metric hose connections
  • NPT connections
  • Low-volume spray nozzle configurations
  • Airless spray nozzle configurations
  • Separate die-side and supply-side assemblies

The appropriate configuration depends on the number of lubrication points, the nozzle style, tubing and fitting requirements, and the design of the die-lubrication system. Unist lists support for as many as 30 nozzles, depending on the selected model. [unist.com]

Typical applications

The Multi-Tube Quick Connect is intended for industrial metal-forming applications that use multiple in-die spray nozzles. Typical applications include:

  • Coil-fed stamping
  • Blank-fed stamping
  • Progressive dies
  • Transfer dies
  • In-die lubrication systems
  • Low-volume lubricant application
  • Airless spray lubrication

It is particularly useful when dies are changed regularly and each die has its own established nozzle arrangement.

Product benefits

Possible benefits of the system include:

  • Faster lubrication-line connection during die changes
  • One organized connection point for multiple fluid lines
  • Permanent mounting of compatible in-die spray nozzles
  • Reduced possibility of connecting individual lines incorrectly
  • Dripless quick-disconnect performance
  • Support for multiple nozzle and fitting configurations
  • Cleaner, more repeatable die-lubrication setups

Actual performance and suitability depend on the application, lubricant, nozzle configuration, installation, operating conditions, and system design.

Selecting the correct system

Selecting a Multi-Tube Quick Connect requires more than counting the existing nozzles. The complete application should be reviewed, including the number and type of nozzles, tubing sizes, fitting standards, lubricant, operating pressure, die arrangement, and connection location.
